Biometric Screening:

Know Your Numbers!

What you don’t know could hurt you when it comes to your health. Over 75% of health care costs are due to preventable chronic conditions, like heart disease and high cholesterol, both of which can be prevented and treated with proper diet and exercise. That’s why Biometric Screenings are so crucial.  Valuable metrics are provided to help you know where your health stands, and what you can improve moving forward.

What exactly is a biometric screening?

According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a biometric health screening is defined as “the measurement of physical characteristics such as height, weight, body mass index, blood pressure, blood cholesterol, blood glucose, and aerobic fitness tests that can be taken at the work site and used as part of a workplace health assessment to benchmark and evaluate changes in employee health status over time.”

Biometric Screenings only take 15 minutes and provide you with all the information you need to begin making healthier choices, including:

  • Total Cholesterol
  • HDL
  • LDL
  • Triglycerides
  • Glucose
  • Blood Pressure
  • BMI
  • Height
  • Weight
  • Waist Circumference
  • Percentage Body Fat
  • A1C (additional)

All screenings are followed by professional consultation.

Health Risk Assessment (HRA):
A health risk assessment is a health questionnaire, used to provide individuals with an assessment of their health risks and quality of life.  Employers integrate Health Risk Assessments into their workplace wellness programs providing both employees and employer with insight about their health, diet, exercise habits, along with possible risk of illness or disease.

Goals from administrating health risk assessments are:

  • Determine health status
  • Define risk factors
  • Informative feedback to participants encouraging positive behavioral change

Flu Shot Vaccinations:

When flu season hits, it can hit the workplace hard. Over 200,000 Americans are hospitalized yearly due to flu-related illnesses.  In 2018 alone, over 45,000 people so far have died from flu or flu-related complications.

According to the CDC, the flu can cost the U.S. approximately $10.4 billion for hospitalizations and outpatient visits for adults. Getting an annual flu vaccination during the fall season is the most effective way to prevent an influenza outbreak. The CDC also recommends that everyone 6 months of age or older be vaccinated annually against influenza.

Partner with Lone Star Health & Fitness to provide an onsite flu shot clinic for your employees. Not only will it help your company’s bottom line, but it will also decrease absenteeism and loss of employee productivity caused by the illness. It’s an incredibly cost-effective way to ensure the health and safety of your valued employees during the flu season.
